First of all, I have to set something straight right away. All of those TV shows where a crew just blows in and completely redoes a house, then they blow out again with hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit are big fat lies. Okay, maybe not lies, but they are VASTLY different from the experience we have had with remodeling our home. Looking back on it now we sometimes laugh at how naive we were when we were getting into this whole process. We were only dating at the time that Austin purchased the house, and when we were sitting in the bank discussing the construction loan, we told the loan officer that we needed a hobby. Well, needless to say, this house became far more than a hobby, but now that we are living in it, married, and we did not kill each other in the process, we are very thankful for the way things turned out! :)
This is what the exterior of the house looked like when Austin purchased it:
Gotta love the puke green metal siding, lol!
And a "during pic":
Finally some after pics!!!
Front view:
Back view:
It used to be a standard height door with a transom above it, but Austin put the two together to make room for the extra-tall door.
I LOVE the leaded glass design! It shines little rainbows on the floor in the foyer when the sun hits it right, and all of our door hardware is that beautiful brushed nickel finish!
Whew! That's just the giftwrapping! For the rest of this week and next, I'll be posting the interior pics! :)
Thanks for reading!
I'm anxiously awaiting the after! Very exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the after pictures. Happy New Year. By the way, you're not the only ones who laugh at those shows. YEAH RIGHT! If it's so easy to flip and sell a house tell my why I'm stuck with the house we lived in and is gorgeous in Vegas. Oh, wait... the market crashed and we're the only house in town that hasn't gone back to the bank. We have lost over 100,000.00 on that house! Thank GOD we have wonderful tenants or we would be another statistic too!
ReplyDeleteThat is such an amazingly cute house!! Can't wait to see it after it is done!
