~ My Husband Rocks! ~ he keeps me safe!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello and happy Friday everybody! In case you don't follow the Twitter feed in the right sidebar, Austin and I were on vacation last week in Colorado! We had a fantastic time (in fact I've been writing my vacation post all week as I've had a few minutes, and it will be up on Monday), and we got to spend a ton of it with my family, which was awesome!
And as though that were not a great enough reason why Austin rocks, I want to tell you the story of how he saved our lives. Dramatic, huh?
It was on the drive home. We said good-bye to my family in Denver and headed for home around 6:30ish last Saturday night. We prefer to drive through the night because it doesn't feel like we're wasting time that way, you know?
Well, we had been driving for a couple of hours, and we decided to start reading a book that my Uncle Tom had given us before we left. So I clicked on the light and started reading out loud. We got through about a chapter and a half and Austin said, "Honey, I'm having a lot of trouble following along. I really want to be able to focus on the book, but I'm trying to concentrate on the road, and I think we should just wait and read this when we get home."
I agreed and put the book away and clicked off the light. A few moments later, my phone buzzed because @mandisaofficial had just tweeted about the Mercy Me accident which had just happened that Saturday morning. I clicked over to the article that she had tweeted about and was reading it out loud when all of a sudden, there's a deer, just standing in our lane!
Photobucket
no, I did not actually have time to take a pic,
I got this from Google
There he was, just standing there, facing the passing lane. In a split second, Austin reacted, slammed on the brakes and swerved over onto the shoulder, startling the deer and causing him to bolt across the passing lane and off the highway. Austin corrected our course and brought us back into our lane, accellerating smoothly and bringing our ride back to normal!
This is absolutely amazing to me because my brain just simply does not work that fast! Praise the Lord that Austin was driving, and he was able to think so quickly on his feet! Not to mention the absolutely providential timing of switching off the inside light so Austin was able to see the road (and subsequently the deer)!
Well, there you have it! My husband's my hero! (And he would most definitely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, give God all the glory! He rocks for that reason, too!)
  4. Thank goodness you turned that light off. I have seen little flashlights that attach to your seatbelt and beam strait down, so you can read your book without adding glare to the window.
    After a long hiatus I'm back to posting why my husband rocks.
    It's good to be back.
    I hope the rest of your trip went smoothly.
